The African American History Museum (AAHM) hosted a Coffee and Conversation Panel Saturday Morning to discuss city budget insights, community resources, and fire safety.

AAHM Board President Aaron Pearl-Cropp, Ward 5 Alderwoman Lakeisha Purchase and Springfield Fire Department Captain Julie Plunk were on the panel.

Community members were encouraged to be active and attend budget meetings, as it was discussed that the outlook is not a good one for this coming fiscal year.

Captain Plunk also encouraged those who might need a new smoke or carbon monoxide detector to call the Fire Safety division to have firemen install them in your home.  You can call Fire Safety at 217-789-2170.
