1 hurt during fire at Springfield east side home

Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Springfield firefighters are still investigating the cause of a blaze at an east side home Wednesday afternoon.

According to a news release, it happened around 1:30 in the 1600 block of South 16th Street, a few blocks from South Grand Avenue East.

Fire, officials say, could be seen coming from the front of the home when they arrived.

One person was taken to the hospital with what were called non-life-threatening injuries.

The Red Cross is helping residents there.
