Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – The RatTucky Derby is upon us. 6 Rodent Races…1 Championship. All for a good cause!

Kayla Miller and Erica Romines representing the Community Childcare Connection program was on The WTAX Morning News watch to discuss the upcoming RatTucky Derby.

What is The RatTucky Derby?

Kayla Miller: “So, it’s mouse races. We call it the Rucky Derby because we always have it the day before the Real Kentucky Derby. six races and one championship. “

What Is the Community Child Care Connection?

“We are one of 16 childcare resources and referral agencies across Illinois, and we are contracted by the state to administer the childcare assistance program. And we also focus on childcare providers, getting them trainings, resources they need to help the communities thrive in childcare”

Erica…What does this program mean to you?

“The work that we get to do with childcare providers, being able to make those connections with them. We do a lot in the community with our events. one of the big things is just being able to connect them, to resources, because we aren’t the only resource out there.”
