Lincoln, IL (WAND) – After its future was up in the air, the balloon portion of Balloons Over 66 weekend is back.

According to the organization’s Facebook page, Lincoln Mayor Tracy Welch helped guarantee the return of the balloons.

Balloons Over 66 announced Tuesday it would discontinue the portion due to a lack of “consistent support” and “financial backing” needed to fly the balloons.

The post added that it is looking for sponsors to help keep the event going.

More information is available on the organization’s Facebook page.
