Boy suffered non-life-threatening injuries on a motorbike

Springfield, Illinois (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – A 13-year-old Springfield boy was suffered non-life-threatening injuries Tuesday afternoon when his motorbike crashed into a pickup truck.

The Sangamon County Sheriff’s Department says the accident occurred around 4:12pm near the intersection of North Daniel and East Carpenter.

Witnesses say motorbike entered the intersection without stopping, and the driver of the truck – heading north – attempted to slow down to avoid the collision but was unable to.

The victim was not wearing a helmet. The motorbike, a 99cc vehicle, is not required by Illinois law to be registered, licensed, or insured.
