Forsyth, IL (WAND) – A swing and a ball crack off the bat. Another and then another. Nothing unusual when you’re talking about batting cages. Unless you consider the hot temperatures here in the Midwest.

Lin Tapscott and Jaxon Finch spent an hour in an outdoor batting cage. The high school students were hot but knew how to keep going.

Hydration may have been the key. Both said they were staying hydrated.

Temperatures in the area will rise in the next few days. The “feels like” temps are hitting the 100 mark. While baseball diamonds and tennis courts were empty, this pair kept swinging.

In a cage next to them a man with another young ballplayer. He told WAND News that, despite throwing pitches in the heat, it was time to leave so he could go play golf.

Temperatures will be warm now through Saturday. More mild temps are expected by Sunday. Batter up!
