Chatham, IL (WAND) – The Village of Chatham has broken ground on a new municipal center.

“We’re about a $22 million total project for everything from acquisition to site readiness, design,” Mayor Dave Kimsey told WAND News. “It’s 2026, and the facilities we’re operating out of right now are from the 80s.”

The new municipal center will replace three current buildings. Construction should be completed in 14 to 16 months. Kimsey is hoping to be moving in around late summer or early fall 2027.

The new municipal center will hold city administration offices, staff and utility billing. The Chatham Police Department will also move into the facility, according to Police Chief Vernon Foli.
