Crime of the Week:  Help needed identifying suspect in Petersburg theft

Petersburg, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – This week, Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Petersburg Police Department to identify a suspect reference to a theft.

On April 10, 2026, officers responded to Dollar General, 1018 N 6th, in reference to a theft.  Around 6pm, a black male suspect wearing a white t-shirt and dark colored coat entered the store and approached an employee.  The suspect distracted the employee by making multiple transactions which led to the suspect stealing over $2,400 in cash and merchandise.
