Crime of the Week:  Second burglary at Springfield comic book store

Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – This week, Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Sangamon County Sherrif’s Office to identify an individual in reference to a burglary and criminal damage.

On February 21st, 2026, at approximately 1:30am, a black male, with a beard, wearing a stocking cap forced entry into 217 Comics and Games, 1820 Stevenson Dr. in Springfield. Video shows the male suspect throwing a concrete block through the glass door to gain entry to the business. Once inside the business, the suspect attempted to steal the cash register before fleeing east towards Stanton Ave.
