Driver killed in 2 vehicle crash in Clinton identified

Clinton, IL (WAND) – The DeWitt County Coroner has identified a woman killed in a two-vehicle crash on Illinois State Route 10 last Thursday.

Ruth A. Cowser, 68, of DeLand, Illinois was pronounced dead at the scene, around 10:15 p.m. on Aug. 20. The coroner said that autopsy results showed Cowser died from blunt force trauma.

The crash occurred at the intersection of Route 10 East and Plow Road in Clinton, according to the DeWitt County Sheriff’s Department.

Illinois State Police and sheriff’s deputies report that an eastbound vehicle and a westbound vehicle collided on Route 10.

Two other individuals were also hospitalized as a result of the crash. A passenger was airlifted to a hospital in Champaign, and the driver of the eastbound vehicle was transported by ambulance to a Champaign hospital. No update has been released on their status.

The crash remains under investigation by the coroner’s office, sheriff’s department, and Illinois State Police.
