Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – After the passing of Illinois Governor Jim Edgar, his children remember him by his love for his family, friends, and even his staff.

Edgar’s children joked that “once you work for Jim Edgar, you always work for Jim Edgar.”

They went on to say their father could be quote “a little stubborn” and “quirky,” but at the end of the day, he cared very deeply about the people of Illinois.

And while many may associate Edgar with Illinois politics, Edgar’s grandchildren associate their grandfather with movie theater popcorn and chocolate cake. Apparently, Governor Edgar was quite the foodie!

According to his grandchildren, he once sent back a meatball sub for being “lukewarm,” but then complained the sandwich was too burnt when it was brought back to him.

He also spent his life on the hunt for the perfect slice of chocolate cake; the appointed baker was always under scrutiny from the late governor.
