Governor charges racism in Trump deployment of National Guard

(CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Gov. JB Pritzker Tuesday afternoon accused the Trump administration of racism in deploying the National Guard to patrol Chicago during Mexican Independence Day celebrations. He asked who among us carries citizenship papers and said it’s neither crime nor immigration status the administration is seeking out – it’s simply targeting people with brown skin.

“Let’s be clear,” said the governor. “The terror and cruelty is the point.

“It breaks my heart to report we have been told ICE will disrupt community picnics and peaceful parades.”

Pritzker also said it’s “insulting” that a governor should be expected to beg, as Trump suggested, for both National Guard assistance and for federal dollars already owed Illinois.
