Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – A Springfield insurance agent is the latest person to put money toward the efforts of supporting the community in some way.

Cheri Plummer’s CLP Insurance Solutions will take a portion of whatever profits she makes this year and put them toward a grant program payable in 2027.

“There’s going to be a line item in our budget that a portion of all the revenue that’s made off new and renewal business every year — this isn’t just a one-time program, this is going to be ongoing — will be set aside,” said Plummer, on the WTAX Morning Newswatch.  “After that fiscal year, we’ll calculate how much we have available.  We’ll send grant applications out.”

Plummer says a committee will decide which local non-profit will get the money each year.  It’s something she says she’s glad to be in a position to do.

“I feel like the community gave back to me many years ago when I moved back,” said Plummer.  “I wanted to have a grant program to where different community charity organizations could apply for it for whatever project they were doing, and then we’d be able to help fund some of those grants based on the need within the community.”

Plummer’s website will have more information on the grant program.
