Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Rock-and-roll and Christmas go hand-in-hand especially at Capitol Media Group’s 100.5 WYMG.

WYMG is starting the holiday season by raising money all day Friday for its annual “Christmas Wish” program, by doing a “Rock-a-Thon” from 6:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.

“This is the kickoff.  This is the fundraising kickoff, and then we try to grant a brand new wish every weekday, right up to Christmas,” said “Lynch,” WYMG’s morning host, on the WTAX Morning Newswatch, in an interview to air Friday. “This year, (we’re looking to grant) about twelve (wishes).  So, that’s our goal, or more.  The more money we raise, the more wishes we can grant.

WYMG’s Lynch tells the WTAX Morning Newswatch the wishes they’d like to grant are about as varied as the people who nominate them.

“When that curve ball gets thrown at you, it doesn’t discriminate,” said Lynch.  “It doesn’t make any difference where you live and what your income is, and your color, or your gender, or anything.  It can happen to anybody.  And that’s why Christmas Wish is here.”

A number of donations have already been made by people who will get the chance to be a co-host of Lynch’s on Friday.  There will also be a silent auction, and other ways to donate to the fulfillment of wishes on Friday.
