UPDATE: Man dead after motorcycle versus truck accident in Springfield

UPDATED 1:48 p.m.

The Sangamon County Coroner has identified the victim as JB Logan, 77. Preliminary autopsy results show Logan died from blunt force injuries, according to the coroner.

Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – A Springfield man is dead after his motorcycle and a pickup truck collided.

According to a news release, Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon says an autopsy on the 77-year-old will be conducted Tuesday.

The accident happened near 9th and Carpenter Streets Monday afternoon. He was pronounced dead at the hospital around 2:45 p.m.

An investigation into the accident by Springfield Police continues.  The victim’s name will not be released, Allmon says, until after the autopsy, and pending notification of next of kin.
