Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Memorial Health has been working to expand their service outreach to be able to provide adequate and positive care for patients in both rural and suburban settings. The resources and staff to accomplish this mission would require a lot.
They have also been working hard to keep up with the rapidly changing environment that is the medical field. With this being a hard task to accomplish, while also trying to be among the top hospital systems in the state, a healthcare system this large could probably use a lot of help. However, Memorial still promises to keep up their efforts.
Mandy Eaton, President & CEO of Memorial Health, spoke on the WTAX Morning Newswatch about their ability to expand, where Memorial Health gets their support, and how they run hand in hand with the community.
“I think one of the biggest abilities we have is to really operate as a unified health system so we can provide access and quality of care to any of the communities we serve. We are focused on getting patients the services they need as quickly as possible. That doesn’t just mean bringing people from our rural areas into Springfield or Decatur, were looking at how to better use the capacity that we have in those rural hospitals and even add more services there. If you live in Springfield, but there’s an MRI slot open sooner in Taylorville, we can get you in there and still coordinate everything with your doctor here. Or if a patient at Springfield is ready for the next step in their recovery, we may send them to a skilled nursing unit in Lincoln or in Taylorville, to help them get ready to go home. So, lots of opportunity to use our services broadly” Eaton said.
Eaton also stated, “Our partnerships are critical to our success. We work closely with SIU School of medicine and Springfield Clinic to continue raising the level of care available in downstate Illinois. We partner with colleges across the region to help build the healthcare workforce of the future and support the education of the next generation of healthcare professionals. Considering all of the rapid changes within the healthcare community, it must be difficult for a major hospital system to keep up with various illness outbreaks and new regulations.
In some cases, this could drastically change the level of care you may receive when checking into your local hospital. However, Memorial is doing what they can to ensure that the care they provide does not change and always continues to grow for the betterment of the community.
