Moweaqua, IL (WAND) – All officers with the Moweaqua Police Department, including the police chief, resigned Friday.

Moweaqua Mayor Angela Locke confirmed with WAND News that as of Friday, all Moweaqua police department officers, including Chief Christopher Hale, have resigned.

Locke said Hale did not give her a reason for the resignation.

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office said deputies will respond to calls in Moweaqua in the meantime, but response times could be delayed.

These resignations come just after former mayor Shawn Conlin resigned in February amid town budget concerns, and worries over police department comp time and overtime budgets being overspent.
