Springfield, IL (WAND) – Giving Tuesday is a day for supporting charitable organizations through donations.

Giving Tuesday began in 2012 as an annual day of giving on the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving. It’s considered a global movement to give, collaborate and celebrate generosity.

One organization participating in Giving Tuesday is called Prevent Child Abuse Illinois. Its donation goal for 2025 is to raise a modest amount of $5,000.

“Our goal is a lot of education,” said Ash Hamilton. “As well as being able to offer resources and training to people.”

Hamilton says Prevent Child Abuse Illinois is focused on prevention.

“Everything from what to do as far as new parents and how to avoid some unintentional abuse. Everything to what other organizations can do when they spot it,” Hamilton said.

Donations to the organization can be made online.
