Republicans claim higher energy prices are all Governor’s fault

Villa Grove, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – The Illinois Legislature’s Republican Freedom Caucus says, in their words, “low IQ” people are running state government, and they’re at fault for enacting what they also say are “woke” policies that are causing power bills to go way up this summer.

Ameren warned of potentially higher electricity rates this summer as heat has taken hold.

And members of the Freedom Caucus aren’t happy about it. after hearing from a business owner whose electric bill was at least $1,000 higher this month than last.

State Representative Chris Miller chairs the caucus and says increased renewable energy is to blame.

“The prices we see on your electric bill are the product of failed, disastrous public policy, being forced by Gov. Pritzker, the failed Biden-Harris administration, the Democrats in Springfield, and the woke Green Bad Deal mafia,” said Miller (R-Hindsboro).

Miller and the rest of the caucus want completely repealed a state law called the “Climate and Equitable Jobs Act.

“I would anticipate energy policy to be discussed (during the fall veto session),” said State Rep. Brad Halbrook (R-Shelbyville).  “There’s been a push since late last fall to bring on battery storage and many things like that.  That didn’t get done to the extent they wanted to in the lame duck session in January.  There was a push to get it done before we adjourned in May.  That didn’t happen.  But it is on the table to do something yet this fall in veto session the last two weeks in October.”

The Freedom Caucus also wants a return to things like coal-based power.

This year’s song of the summer is a ballad, not a banger. Here’s what that says about us

For the past 14 weeks and counting, the top Billboard spot has been held by a love ballad: Alex Warren's "Ordinary." As Berklee College of Music professor and forensic musicologist Joe Bennett notes, the February release is "a fair bit slower than the mean average for the Hot 100, or for a historical song of the summer."
