Mattoon, IL (WAND) – Rural King is investing $75 million to build a new Store Support Center Campus in Mattoon, creating 100 new jobs and retaining 719 existing positions in Coles County.

Governor JB Pritzker joined company leaders Thursday to announce the project, which will serve as the headquarters for key business operations, including finance, IT, marketing, human resources, and merchandising.

“With its new expansion, Rural King is building on its storied legacy in Illinois by creating new jobs and investing in the community and region,” said Pritzker. “Illinois is proud to collaborate with job creators who expand opportunities for our people while committing to growing in our state.”

Rural King, which was founded in Mattoon in 1960, said the new campus will provide additional space, technology, and resources to support the company’s continued growth.

State officials say the project is being supported through Illinois’ EDGE economic development program and infrastructure improvements in the area.

Rural King currently operates stores across 18 states and employs more than 9,500 people nationwide. Company leaders say the expansion reinforces their commitment to keeping their roots in Central Illinois while continuing to grow.

Construction is now underway on the new campus.
