SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) – A registered child sex offender is wanted in Sangamon County, while sheriff’s deputies arrested another for violating the terms of his registration.

The Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office learned sex offender Randall Knott left Illinois without authorization in July after detectives in Tulsa, Oklahoma, said they encountered him.

The sheriff’s office got an arrest warrant for Knott after learning he wouldn’t be charged in Oklahoma.

Knott, 55, is wanted for failure to register as a sex offender. The sheriff’s office said he has avoided law enforcement.

Meanwhile, sheriff’s deputies took Frederick Britz into custody on Monday with the help of U.S. Marshals. According to the sheriff’s office, Britz, 60, was wanted for failing to register as a sex offender and for living within 500 feet of a playground.

Britz is currently in custody at the Sangamon County Jail.

Anyone with information on Knott’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office at 217-753-6666 or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers of Sangamon and Menard counties at 217-788-8427 or cashfortips.us.
