Taylorville, IL (WAND) – A Taylorville man was sentenced to 18 years in prison Tuesday after accepting a negotiated plea deal on child porn charges, according to Christian County court records.

62-year-old Phillip Windell was facing six charges of child pornography after he was arrested in Nov. 2024.

Illinois State Police arrested Windell after getting a tip that he was in possession of and disseminating child sexual abuse material. He was arrested after a search warrant was executed at his home.

Court records show five of six charges were dismissed against Windell in the plea. He pleaded guilty to one count of child pornography.

He was sentenced to 18 years in an Illinois prison and given three years of mandatory supervised released. He was given credit for time served. Windell has been in jail since his arrest.
