Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – – Newschannel 20 (WICS) and FOX Illinois (WRSP) are pleased to announce the promotion of Meteorologist Matt Bednar to the position of Morning Meteorologist, effective mid-December.

Matt has been a valued member of the Storm Team since joining the stations in 2023. Originally from the Chicago area, he earned his degree from the University of Oklahoma’s School of Meteorology, one of the nation’s leading programs in the field. In his new role, His experience and enthusiasm for weather forecasting make him a welcome addition to the morning team. Viewers can catch Matt alongside anchors Mark Hespen and Alexandria Rayford on NewsChannel 20 Sunrise and FOX Illinois Sunrise.

Meteorologist Nick Patrick, who has been a part of the morning team, will be moving on to pursue new opportunities. The stations thank Nick for his dedication and wish him continued success in his future endeavors.
