Springfield, IL (CAPTOL CITY NOW) – The University of Illinois Springfield (UIS) woman’s basketball team is starting to see a revival. The newest coach, who is now on her second-year coaching for UIS, spoke on the WTAX Morning Newswatch about what they are expecting for the remainder of this season, as well as some of the play styles and what they see coming for future seasons.

Olivia Lett, UIS’ now second year woman’s basketball team coach can definitely feel the difference working at UIS compared to her previous 6 years at Millikin University.

Of course, with a transition to a new school, and new players on the team that you coach, it’s bound to stray a little bit from the familiarities you would typically be used to.

“Definitely a bit different, I was at Millikin for six years, and we kind of had it rolling there at the end. We had a couple NCAA tournaments and a couple conference championships. So, taking over last year and only winning five games was a little bit different. But I think we are on an upward trend this year.” stated Lett. “We are sitting right now at 3 and 4 after last night’s win. Even in our losses we still have been very very competitive. It’s been a turnaround from last year, and we definitely play a very fun style. Whether its win or lose people still love to watch us play.”

Lett also reassures fans that they “will keep growing” and “will keep finding ways to win to catch up on some of the games we may have let slip away this year”

Aside from winning, the other main focus that Lett wants to push, is bringing entertainment to Springfield, and is happy that no matter the outcome, her team’s fans still love watching them play.
