The WPBL’s opening weekend is set for a blockbuster debut when Team USA’s powerhouse duo, Denae Benites and Kylee Lahners, of New York take on a star-studded Los Angeles lineup featuring center fielder women’s baseball superstar Mo’ne Davis and Japanese legend Ayami Sato.

In the opening weekend’s second game, the WPBL’s No. 1 overall pick Kelsie Whitmore of San Francisco will battle Boston’s international sensations including Korean pitcher Hyeonah Kim and Canadian National team star Alli Schroder.

“August 1st isn’t just the WPBL’s Opening Day, it’s the day we build on history,” said Justine Siegal, WPBL Commissioner. “We are thrilled to launch our season schedule which sets the stage for a new era of professional baseball. With top-tier athletes taking the field in Springfield, and a schedule designed for maximum fan engagement, now is the time to secure your place in history with season tickets and witness the return of women’s professional baseball.”

Last month, the WPBL held their first Spring Training in collaboration with the Boston Red Sox as the official kickoff to the WPBL 2026 Countdown Tour ahead of the League’s inaugural Opening Day. The two-day event in Ft. Myers, Florida, featured over 20 of the WPBL’s top athletes who participated in a professional development experience with on-field training alongside former Major League Baseball (MLB) players. In addition, the WPBL launched its Speaker Series the Group Chat LIVE! in Ft. Myers.

Leading up to the season’s first pitch in August, the WPBL Countdown Tour will continue throughout the spring and summer featuring the Group Chat LIVE!, FanFests and activations across the U.S. to build community and visibility before the WPBL’s inaugural season begins.
